Anatomical study of Tropaeolum majus L. in Iraq

Abstract

The current investigation conducted anatomical study for vegetative organs (stem ,petiole and leaf) of Tropaeolum majus L., the study consist of surface epidermis of leaf showed that the ordinary epidermal cells on the upper surface were semi irregular shape, while in lower surface the ordinary epidermal cells were irregular shape. The leaf are amphistomatal, the type of stomata are anomocytic, vertical section of leaf also studied and the indumentum of leaf, the result of petiole surface epidermis showed that it has a few stomata, while the surface epidermis of stem lacks stomata, the cross sections of petiole and stem also studied for this parts.
