Water pollution in Iraq between disastrous border and no real solutions. A study
Abstract
Water pollution in Iraq reached a disastrous border, especially in the Tigris and Euphrates, stemmed from Turkey and a lot of water channels within the country that have dried and turned into hotbeds of pollution and the spread of disease and serious epidemics among more than two million people south of Iraq.
This study aimed to identify the causes of aggravation of this problem, and their political, economic, and social and humanitarian in an attempt to arouse the interest of government agencies concerned to carry out its duties in finding appropriate solutions. The finding of this study suggested the need to develop government position is clear and then go to neighboring countries (Turkey and Iran) and its demand cooperation in finding effective solutions and contract agreements in this regard, in addition to moving the internal adoption of advanced technology in the treatment of water pollution, and to seek adoption of the concepts of environmental sustainability, and activating the role legislative and oversight to the concerned authorities to control the pollution outlets.
