Abstract

The scarcity of information reduces the genetic ability to select chickens that are resistant to infection, and because the Iraqi local chicken is one of the important economic components of rural families. So, it is necessary to work to increase its resistance to all forms of infection. The current study aims to make a comparison between local chicken breeds in the severity of their resistance to infections by studying physiological blood traits.  All vital blood tests were performed for male and female repeats, white, black and striped breeds. The results of the study confirmed the existence of statistically significant differences (P≤0.05) between the studied breeds in some vital and enzymatic blood traits, which indicates the confirmation of the existence of a discrepancy between the breeds even though they were all subject to the same environmental and nutritional treatments.
